About Us
This shop is the production of two
friends who,
although miles apart and never
having met in person,
developed a deep and truly beautiful
friendship.
The items we offer here in our shop
are a direct result of that
friendship.
The love that we have developed for
each other is evident in each item
we offer here.
The diversity you see in our
selection of wares, which range from
lotions to amulets,
is what also makes us, The Mystic
Moon Dance, unique and special.
Brenda in Indiana
A medical transcriptionist by trade,
I work at home on my computer
transcribing medical documents for a
national medical transcription
company. While working at home
certainly has its advantages,
especially with the current gas
prices, it can also be a very lonely
profession. To occupy myself and to
keep the loneliness at bay, I
entered my name and information on a
pen-pal site. The result of that
was my deep and lasting friendship
with Loni, my partner in "The Mystic
Moon Dance."
I began my spiritual journey about
10 years ago when, during a
particular dark and bleak period in
my life, I discovered the
"Spiritualist" belief system. Like
the light bulb suddenly appearing
above heads in comic strips, I
immediately knew this was the curve
in the road I was suppose to
follow. I am lucky in that my
husband, Bob, is traveling this road
with me.
I read everything I could find
about spiritualism which lead me to
Wicca, Buddhism, and so many
others. Believing that everyone
should follow their own heart and
like a little squirrel who hoards
his food for times of famine, I took
from each one of those what felt in
my heart to be true and those are my
beliefs...totally individualized, a
part of each, but yet separate, and
entirely me. It is a joyful road
that spirit has lead me to and I
rejoice every day for the many daily
blessings that are now so apparent
to me.
My husband, Bob, and I share our
home with a menageries of pets.
During our first years of marriage
we tried to no avail for children.
Going through many fertility
procedures, including artificial
insemination, and taking fertility
medications did nothing except leave
me with empty arms and a longing in
my heart. After 2 miscarriages and
a tubal pregnancy, (I have three
children in spirit), and after the
insurance company decided they would
no longer pay for these treatments,
we called it quits. My heart
was broken. I decided to fill
that emptiness with pets. They are
as innocent as children, loving, and
entirely trusting...they are our
family and we treat them as such.
Doing animal rescue work was not
successful for me. Bob and I would
fall in love with each pet rescued
and ended up adopting each one
ourselves. During our 25 years of
marriage we adopted Ralph, an Irish
Setter who had cigarette burns over
his body and was abandoned due to
heart worms, Alex, an
abandoned blind diabetic Dalmatian,
Jocko, a kitten with cerebral palsy,
Sugar, a feral cat with
hypothyroidism, and Rowdy, a kitten
who had severe allergies.
Because of our love of all life we
are vegetarians and animal
activists. We currently
share our home with 4 dogs, 3 cats,
and a 50-gallon tank of fresh water
fish.
Dogs - Starr is a Decker Rat Terrier
who was rescued from a puppy mill
(gr-r-r, for an explanation of why I
hate puppy mills, just do a search
on the internet for puppy mill
abuse), she is blind in one eye.
She was taken to the pound because
she was deemed to old to breed any
more and that is where we found
her. So abused was she that if we
just raised our voices she would
urinate right where she was standing
and then, on her belly, would crawl
to us. Digger is a Blue Healer
who was owned by a young man who had
him tied to a tree, in a collar two
sizes too small, and with intestinal
worms. Daisy, who is a mixed
terrier, was rescued from a local
shelter. She was scheduled to be
euthanized the following day.
And...lastly we have Ben. A tiny
little fellow, a senior deaf Rat
Terrier, we rescued him from a
shelter where he had been taken
after the death of his owner. He
also was scheduled to be euthanized
the following day.
Cats - Spirit was found as a kitten
in the parking lot of a local
grocery store late at night. I
heard his tiny little meowing and
being that I seem to have a second
sense for finding animals, I
followed the crying. When I
neared the kitten I saw the
silhouette in the dark of two
teenage boys who immediately, upon
seeing me, dropped the kitten and
something else and ran. When I
got near the kitten I noticed that
the other thing they had dropped was
a can of gasoline. Three
guesses what they were going to do
with the gasoline. Wilbur I
found as a stray and Chandeler was
left behind when his family moved.
These are our babies, our family.
I would love to thank my spirit
guides, Silver Swan, Ben, Gray Wolf,
and Annie Sunshine for mentoring me,
guiding me, and for always being
there when I need them....my
children in spirit, Lillie Mae,
Robert Lewis, and Thomas Lee, I love
you and miss you more than you can
ever know, and lastly I would like
to thank my Grandmother, Lillie Mae,
for being the one constant source of
love that I could always depend on.
I wish to welcome each and everyone
here to The Mystic Moon Dance.
